How do I create an NHS referral?
๐ Please note: For UK users, the process differs for NHS vs private referrals. Please follow the dedicated guide for creating and viewing private referrals.
NHS referrals are created within the chart - once created, they can be viewed under the 'Referrals (NHS)' tab in the patient record. Only NHS referrals can be viewed here - private referrals must be viewed in the individual treatment plan where they were created.
๐ก Top tip: We are developing a patient referrals report where you will be able to view all NHS and private referrals created at or received by your practice, in one place - look out for more information coming soon.
To create an NHS referral:
In the patient's chart, find the relevant treatment plan and appointment that you wish to create a referral for.
Click 'Create referral' above the appointment details. A pop-up window will appear.
Select 'NHS referral'.
The next steps will depend which referral integration you use.
Rego (Vantage) users will see a dropdown where you can select the practitioner to refer to. This list is based on practitioners at the practice.
Dental Referrals (FDS) users will see a dropdown to select the practitioner to refer to. This list is based on practitioners at the practice.
You will also need to select a referral form - The form options come from your FDS (Dental Referrals) account and are automatically pulled into Dentally.
When you are ready, click 'Send referral'. The referral will automatically be logged under the 'Referrals (NHS)' tab in the patient record.
