What are AI notes?
AI Notes helps you create comprehensive clinical documentation by allowing you to dictate your notes straight to Dentally and then documents your information according to your chosen templates. What are some of the benefits of AI notes:

Improves quality: Helps ensure comprehensive documentation by following your own templates.
Increases efficiency: Allows you to dictate naturally while the AI handles organisation and documentation.
Customisable: Works with any of your personal or shared templates for consistent documentation.
How to use AI notes
Step 1 - Open the clinical side panel
AI Notes are built directly into your clinical side panel for easy access when charting. Click on the desired treatment plan item and select 'AI Note' to launch the Clinical side panel.
๐ Please Note - We recommend testing AI notes with a test patient first to get a feel for how it works. Try using different microphones, accent settings, and locations to see what gives you the best results.

Step 2 - Select a template
Select a template from your personal collection or shared templates. You can use the search function to find specific templates. To see you practice templates make sure you have enabled them for use with AI notes.

Step 3 - Record or write your notes
Dictate your notes using the microphone button to start recording. Use your template as a script, so you can remember what you need to say about each patient. Take a look at our guide on how to speak to AI for the best outcomes every time.
You can also type your notes into the clinical note box before summarising using AI.
When dictating your notes you can do so for up to 5 minutes at a time - multiple dictations on each template is supported.
There is no need to format your speech, simply speak to your script - your selected template - and the AI will handle the formatting automatically.

Step 4 - Review and finalise your notes
Once finished, click 'Summarise' and wait for the AI to process your input.
๐จImportant - It's important to note that you should Always double-check AI notes for accuracy. Since AI tools can occasionally misinterpret information, take a moment to verify that the generated notes correctly reflect what was dictated.
After reviewing you can click the 'Copy' button so you can transfer the content onto the patients treatment item.
Simple navigate back to the notes section of the treatment plan item and 'Paste' in your notes. Review and edit as needed to ensure accuracy.
Language support
AI notes currently supports English language only.
Any unexpected or non-standard vocabulary outside of regular dentistry in English may not be accurately processed.

How to view my AI notes history?
All of your previous AI Note summarisation are accessible in the 'History' tab, where you can:
View past AI Notes
Edit and regenerate summaries if needed
Provide feedback to help improve the system
Your summarisation are private and only visible when you're logged in.
What if the AI makes a mistake?
It's not uncommon for AI tools to misinterpret information, these tools are only there to assist us in our jobs not replace us! To ensure accuracy and maintain clinical standards, you should always:
Review every AI-generated note before finalising.
Edit any inaccuracies directly in the note editor.
Use templates as a guide to make sure all key details are included.
For compliance and quality assurance, we also recommend that your practice conducts regular audits of clinical AI notes. This helps ensure AI-generated content is being properly reviewed and helps prevent practitioners from becoming complacent or overly reliant on the tool.
